Within the past of couple years, I've made an effort to actively change my life for the better. It hasn't been the easiest journey and I've definitely gone back and forth, but it's something that has been really important to me (and still is).
That being said, something super small that I started with those few years ago was writing down 10 things I was grateful for everyday. Initially it was a little challenging, but I pushed myself to do it. Some days I would repeat what I said previously and other days, it would be something simple as being thankful for waking up in the morning. It definitely helped me during really challenging months when things felt very bleak. It was a small reminder that things weren't so bad - that there was always something to look forward to or to really appreciate.
Even now, some days are harder to find something grateful for than others, but it all has the same result. I always feel better about everything I have and it's something positive to start the day with. Everyday my boyfriend and I say what we're grateful for - morning and night. Sometimes even doubling up in the morning because we were so tired the night before.
Saying what you're grateful for, even just one thing a day - goes a long way. For me, it reminds me that I have so much to be thankful for even though sometimes it feels like the world is crashing down on me. It also just puts me in a better mood knowing that even when shit feels rough, there is always something to be appreciative of!
