Growing up I was never the athletic type. I was more of the "got chosen almost last, was never on a team, tried to get out of gym class" kind of kid. I basically hated gym class and anything particularly active (except for dance) because I guess I just lacked the confidence in myself to really try. Even in high school, I made sure I took gym in grade nine so I could get it out of the way...yup, I hated it all. Fast forward to adulthood and never would I have thought that I would be SO into health and fitness that I would want to blog about it and share my fitness journey!

In fact, I LOVE going to the gym and trying out new activities! Trust me, childhood me would not have even imagined that I would thoroughly enjoy being active, going to the gym and really taking hold of a healthy lifestyle. As a kid, I was often teased by relatives for being "too skinny" and "looking like I wasn't eating enough", which, if you know me, you know that I eat a lot so their comments weren't the greatest to hear at such a young age. Fitness allows me to really be confident in how I feel about my body, was the key to jumpstarting healthier eating choices, and pushed me out of my comfort zone to try different workouts and activities. 

Don't get me wrong, it took awhile to get to this point. When I first started regularly working out, it was a bit of a struggle. I could barely do a push up! But as time passed, I started to see and more importantly, feel better about myself. I also was able to feel stronger too. It got me to make more conscious eating choices and pushed me to start cooking too!

These days, I try to pack my schedule with regular trips to the gym, once a week in boxing, and trying to find new activities I can get myself into that are budget-friendly! It's something that I view as an investment into myself and just another form of self-care. I won't say fitness is my latest obsession, but I will say it's very high on my top 10 favourite things.
